The Alabama State Chapter Executive Board, Committees and PSPs are always on the lookout for sisters who have the time, skills and talents to enhance the Sisterhood. That is especially true each Fall when the seated vice president begins looking for sisters to serve on State Chapter’s various committee and historian positions during her presidential year, and the State Chapter Nominating Committee asks local chapters for names of sisters willing to be nominated as the new officer to serve on the State Chapter Executive Board.

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS for SERVING the ALABAMA STATE CHAPTER 

All local chapter sisters with talents to share who meet the below listed communication requirements set by International Chapter are eligible to step up and serve our Sisterhood at State Chapter level.

 

International Chapter’s Communication Requirements for All State Chapter Executive Board Officers, Committee Members and Historian

Sisters must have and proficiently use a

  • cell phone

    • to send and receive emails and texts

  • desk or laptop computer with

    • built-in or external camera and speakers

    • up-to-date operating systems fully compatible with those used by International Chapter

      • Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat Reader or other pdf reader, Zoom, etc.

  • printer/scanner/copier

 

APPLICATION for State Chapter Committee Members and Historian

Sisters meeting International’s communication requirements above are encouraged to

  • download the Application to Serve form on this website (click DOWNLOAD box on this page)

  • fill in the contact and experience information at the top

  • mark boxes identifying their skills and talents

  • mark boxes indicating where they would like to serve (appointment terms and advisers noted on form)

  • email completed form to current year’s seated vice president by January 15 (noted on form)

 

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS for NOMINEE for STATE CHAPTER EXECUTIVE BOARD

In addition to meeting the requirements above, a nominee for State Chapter Executive Board also must 

  • have served as president of a P.E.O. local chapter for at least one year

  • have been a P.E.O. for at least five years and an Alabama P.E.O. for at least two years

  • make the time and personal commitment to devote herself to service at this level

  • understand she is committing to five years of service on the State Chapter Executive Board

    • is accepting her nomination with the idea of staying on the board the entire five years

    • will be asked annually to allow her name to be placed in nomination for the next position

    • may decline to serve in the next office if circumstances change and make it necessary

  • be a registered and present member of the convention when nominated, elected and installed

NOTE from PAST STATE PRESIDENTS

Sisters chosen to walk this path of service quickly discover that the rewards of serving at this level far exceed the obligations of their service. From things learned to friendships made, serving on the Alabama State Chapter Executive Board is an honor, a privilege, and a life-changing experience.
